Upon completion of this mini course, participants will be able to:
- Assess the health history of an elderly patient and determine MLD treatment appropriateness
- Recognise the importance of risk assessment and the principle of 'First Do No Harm'
- Explain the development, structure, and primary functions of the lymphatic system
- Identify and differentiate between various types and causes of oedema
- Discuss the safe application of MLD during pregnancy and related precautions
- Understand blood pressure and cardiovascular considerations in MLD application
- Conduct comprehensive health histories and assessments relevant to MLD
- Apply foundational MLD principles including lymphotomes, watersheds, and treatment preparation
- Recognise and adapt to MLD indications, contraindications, and client-specific needs
- Modify MLD treatments to suit palliative, paediatric, post-surgical, and diverse client needs
- Perform MLD sequences with correct technique, breathing, and clearance protocols
- Review core concepts, consolidate learning, and access additional resources
- Access and interpret resources to guide safe and evidence-informed MLD practice
